ABOUT THE KATIKATI AVO FEST
|
The Katikati Funfest Charitable Trust is proud to be the kaitiaki (guardians) of Katikati AvoFest.
The festival first took shape in 2003 as the Katikati Funfest, an initiative of the Pakeke Lions Club of Katikati to raise funds for local charities and was carried on by the Lions Club of Katikati when the two clubs merged. As the event became too big for the Club to manage, the Katikati Funfest Charitable Trust was formed to organise the event. The first Festival was held at Uretara Domain in January 2004 – planting the seed for what has become one of Katikati’s most loved community events. Since then, thousands of volunteer hours, tireless community spirit, and a passion for giving back, have shaped AvoFest into more than just a festival. Each year, it’s a chance to celebrate our region, share good kai and music, and support local causes – all while shining a light on Katikati’s world-famous avocados. We continue to be excited to partner with the team at Katch Katikati, who do an amazing job in bringing the Katikati AvoFest to life. The Katch team bring energy, creativity, and professionalism, making the festival a highlight of the year. At its heart, AvoFest is all about generosity, flavour, and fun – and we’re proud to keep that story rolling every summer.
